Plasma Modeling Studies

The branch has developed extensive numerical models to support ongoing plasma data analysis and plasma theory efforts, to help define future mission concepts, and to refine current instrument designs. Research in the area of plasma models includes:

• Models of the magnetospheric total density
• Models of particle kinematics in the ionosphere and upper atmosphere
• Models of magnetospheric particle transport
• Modeling of flight plasma instrumentation
• Modeling in support of the IMAGE mission
