THE IMAGING CALORIMETER FOR ACCESS (ICA)The Imaging Calorimeter for ACCESS (ICA) is a part of the NASA mission concept study to define an Advanced Cosmic-ray Composition Experiment for the Space Station (ACCESS). This site is established for an exchange of scientific and technical information with other ACCESS study groups and with committees that will evaluate results of the study and recommend the final ACCESS configuration. An edited version of the ICA team's proposal is available on the ICA Proposal page which covers details of the proposed ICA instrument concept including the specific techniques of ionization calorimetry to be studied. The ICA simulation group will study the response and analysis techniques for the ICA instrument. Details of the simulation results and details of the instrument and its performance will be posted on the simulation team page. The ICA calibration team will assemble and expose a prototype ICA instrument to a high energy proton and heavy ion beam and analyze the data. The activities and results from this team are maintained on the calibration team page. Preliminary configurations of a full size instrument are on the ICA design page. The ICA collaboration members and points of contact are listed on the ICA team page and links to the other groups associated with ACCESS are provided under ACCESS links. |
